I literally checked into a hotel for a night this past weekend to get away and relax. If I’m removed from home, my eyes can’t be triggered from all of the hundreds of things that need to be done around the house. AND, it’s also a good way for the family to learn to survive without me for two days! I realize this is a privilege that many cannot afford, but I saved up for it so that I could, and I’m so glad I did.

This is so wonderful! It's so true, getting away from home is so helpful. I hope you had the most relaxing and nourishing weekend <3

I don't blame you for the uneasiness in trying to relax. I feel the same way. By the time I make my way out of the office at 5PM, I just want to haul myself to the subway stop at the World Trade Center as fast as I can and head back home to Queens. That's before wondering what family related drama awaits the moment that I turn the key on the front door.

And on Friday, it takes effort to not hole up in my room all weekend.

That being said, I reach for my headphones and turn the volume up after dinner. If the muse calls, I'll write. In the mornings, I will put Insight Timer on and listen to a mediation before doing anything else.
